The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Department conducted a drive today to prevent the movement of unfit buses during the upcoming Eid holidays.

Anisuzzaman, Executive Magistrate of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), said a drive was conducted at five workshops from Gabtoli Bus Terminal to Aminbazar and Beribadh areas this morning.

During the visit, it was found that none of the five workshops had obtained a license from the BRTA.

He said, according to the Bangladesh Road Transport Act, it is mandatory for workshops to have a license from the BRTA for car repairs, servicing, or any related work.

The persons concerned at each workshop said they hadn't obtained a license due to being unaware of this requirement.

They were issued a warning without facing fines or jail time, with instructions to obtain the necessary licenses immediately, added the BRTA officer.

They also assured that no vehicles without proper fitness certification would transport long-distance passengers during Eid.

Mirpur Traffic Division Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rahat Gao Hari and other officials from the Traffic Division were present.
