BRAC, Mirai Consulting ink MoU to boost Bangladesh-Japan jobs, business ties
The agreement seeks to strengthen Japanese language and cultural education in Bangladesh, create job opportunities in Japan for both skilled and semi-skilled Bangladeshi workers, and deepen commercial collaboration between the two countries.
BRAC and Japan's Mirai Consulting Group on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding cooperation in business, education and employment between Bangladesh and Japan.
The agreement seeks to strengthen Japanese language and cultural education in Bangladesh, create job opportunities in Japan for both skilled and semi-skilled Bangladeshi workers, and deepen commercial collaboration between the two countries.
The MoU was signed at BRAC Centre in Mohakhali, Dhaka, by Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC, and Kenichi Kanai, managing director of Mirai Consulting Bangladesh.
Japan is currently facing rising demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers, creating new opportunities for overseas recruitment.
Under the partnership, Bangladeshi job seekers are expected to receive better access to these opportunities through language training, cultural orientation and professional support services.
Japanese language proficiency remains one of the key requirements for employment in Japan, and the initiative aims to expand access to quality language education for Bangladeshi youth.
Mirai Consulting Group began operations in Bangladesh in 2024 and has since been working to strengthen business connections between the two countries.
The company has a client network of more than 10,000 Japanese businesses and maintains offices across over 30 prefectures in Japan.
As part of its expansion strategy, Mirai Consulting Group is set to launch a new company in Japan, OPearl, in May 2026 in partnership with Numeri Sattar Apar and Fatemee Iman.
BRAC Probashbandhu Ltd (BPL) will play a key role in OPearl's Bangladesh operations, with activities to be overseen by Brig Gen (Retd.) Md Golam Faruque, Chief Operating Officer of BPL.
BPL and OPearl also plan to jointly establish a human resources company in Japan to create a structured employment platform for Bangladeshi workers.
Among those present at the signing ceremony were Md Shakirul Islam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Employment in the Asia-Pacific region; Md Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Tomotaka Minora, representative of JETRO; and senior officials from BRAC, Mirai Consulting and partner organisations.
Guests at the event expressed hope that the partnership would further strengthen Bangladesh-Japan relations while creating sustainable economic and employment opportunities for both countries.
