BRAC earns top client protection certification
The certification recognises adherence to eight international principles, including client-centric product design, transparency, responsible pricing, privacy of client data, and robust grievance mechanisms
With financial inclusion increasingly critical for empowering marginalised communities, ensuring that microfinance services are delivered responsibly has become a pressing concern.
Addressing this challenge, BRAC has become the only organisation in Bangladesh to earn the Client Protection Certification (CPC) Gold for its Microfinance Programme, awarded by MicroFinanza Rating (MFR)—the highest global standard for client protection.
The certification recognises adherence to eight international principles, including client-centric product design, transparency, responsible pricing, privacy of client data, and robust grievance mechanisms.
Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC, said, "With recognition comes greater responsibility. BRAC Microfinance is committed to reaching underserved communities and providing financial services that are safe, fair, and dignified, while supporting broader social development from healthcare to poverty alleviation."
Senior Director Arinjoy Dhar highlighted that BRAC Microfinance is now one of only eight organisations worldwide to hold the CPC Gold and the only one in Bangladesh. This marks the second time BRAC has received the honour, first achieving it in 2016, ensuring over 14 million clients continue to benefit from responsible microfinance services.
The award was celebrated at an event at BRAC Centre, Mohakhali, where officials, including Prof Mohammad Helal Uddin, executive vice chairman of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority, and Md Saeed Kutub, additional secretary of the Ministry of Finance, praised BRAC's role in expanding access to finance and driving social development.
