BNP supporters crowd Evercare Hospital defying party instructions
Despite party instructions to avoid gathering, BNP leaders and activists continue to crowd outside Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia remains in critical condition.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (29 November) said the gathering was driven by "people's love and respect for Khaleda Zia." However, he acknowledged that such crowds are disrupting regular medical operations at the hospital.
"To ensure that Khaleda Zia and other patients face no complications in receiving medical care, we have made a special request for leaders and activists not to gather in front of the hospital," Rizvi said.
A visit to the hospital area revealed that the situation remains unchanged.
Despite the party's appeal, the number of BNP supporters outside Evercare Hospital continued to grow, especially in the afternoon.
Besides leaders and activists, curious onlookers have also joined the crowd, contributing to traffic congestion in the surrounding area.
