BNP leader Ershad airlifted to Dhaka after being shot during his election campaign

Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener and BNP‑nominated candidate for Chattogram‑8, Ershad Ullah, has been transferred via air ambulance to Dhaka's Square Hospital for advanced treatment this afternoon (7 November) after suffering injuries from bullet wounds during his election campaign at the port city's Chalitatali Khandkarpara area on 5 November.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, his son Emad Ershad, said, "My father has a heart disease and low blood pressure. There is a crowd at the hospital in Chattogram, which poses a risk of infection. That is why he has been brought to Dhaka."
"He is under observation. My father's physical condition is good," he added.
Earlier, he was receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Chattogram.
Earlier on 5 November, listed 'criminal' Sarwar Babla was shot dead in public during the election campaign of Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener and party‑nominated candidate for Chattogram‑8, Ershad Ullah.
In the incident, Ershad Ullah was shot in the right side of his chest and in his leg, according to hospital sources.
Less than 24 hours later, at the same place, an auto‑rickshaw driver named Md Idris Ali was also shot.
So far, Chattogram police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested six suspects in connection with the incidents.
