BNP, Jubo Dal leaders sent to jail over land grabbing allegations in Ctg
A Chattogram court has sent three people, including local leaders of the BNP and its youth wing Jubo Dal, to jail in connection with a case filed over an alleged attempt to grab land in the city's Bayezid area.
The three accused — Zafar Ahmad Khokon (43), member secretary of Ward-44 of Bayezid Thana BNP; Selim Uddin Russell (40), joint secretary of Bayezid Thana Jubo Dal; and Kamal Uddin (46), son of deceased Mohammad Sirajul Haque from Nazirpara under Panchlaish Thana — surrendered before the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafa on Thursday afternoon and sought bail.
After the hearing, the court rejected their bail petitions and sent them to jail, court sources said.

According to court documents, the case stems from an incident on 25 November 2024 when the accused allegedly demolished the boundary wall of a plot owned by Mohammad Jahangir Alam in the Dreamland Residential area under Bayezid Police Station and installed a signboard bearing the name of one Alomgir Hossain.
On 8 December 2024, Mohammad Mohin Uddin, manager of Jahangir Alam's company, filed a case in court against five individuals, including the three now in custody. The court took the case into cognizance and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to carry out a probe.
Sub-inspector Abdur Rashid of the PBI submitted the investigation report on 8 May this year, confirming the allegations brought by the complainant. Based on the findings, the court issued arrest warrants for the accused on 2 July.
Plaintiff's lawyer Manas Das said, "After surrendering, the three accused applied for bail, but the court denied their petitions and sent them to jail."
Further proceedings in the case are expected to continue under the court's directive.
