BNP calls emergency Standing Committee meeting, suspends scheduled programmes
Previously scheduled programmes have also been suspended.
The BNP has called an emergency meeting of its Standing Committee tonight (19 December). The meeting, scheduled for 8:30pm at the office of the party chairperson in Gulshan, will be virtually chaired by Tarique Rahman, the party's acting chairman. Meanwhile, previously scheduled programmes have also been suspended.
This includes a 3pm event on Manik Mia Avenue and a 4pm programme at Kawran Bazar, which were to be attended by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed. In a notice, the party attributed the suspensions to "unavoidable circumstances."
