BIWTA files case against 15 ships for unlawful berthing
The case was lodged against 15 ships including 11 cargo vessels and 4 sand carrying vessels
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Narayanganj river port in an ongoing investigation has filed a case against 15 ships to stop them from anchoring unlawfully in the middle of the Shitalakhya River near Narayanganj.
Assistant Director of the BIWTA Narayanganj River Port, Babu Lal Badiya confirmed that he filed a case against the owners, masters and helmsmen of 15 ships at the Marine Court of The Department of Shipping on Tuesday.
The case was lodged against 15 ships including 11 cargo vessels and 4 sand carrying vessels for berthing unlawfully near the Akij Cement, Nobiganj, Madanganj and Shah Cement factory areas on the Shitalakhya.

Earlier on February 2, BIWTA Narayanganj river port had also filed a case against 13 people from six ships consisting of the owners, masters and helmsmen for the same reason, which had prevented unlawful berthing until now.
