Biman flight purser injured in refugee attack at London hotel
The incident occurred at the Heston Hyde Hotel in London
A flight purser of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was injured following an attack by a refugee while on duty in London yesterday (30 September).
The flight purser, Taifur Rahman Khan, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in London.
According to Biman's sources, the incident occurred at the Heston Hyde Hotel in London. Taifur had stepped out of his hotel room and was sitting on a chair in front of it when an intoxicated refugee struck him from behind with a heavy stick, knocking him to the ground.
The assailant then punched and kicked him in the abdomen before hotel security staff intervened, preventing further harm.
London police promptly arrived at the scene, detaining the attacker and filed a case. Despite his severe injuries, Taifur later informed Biman authorities of the incident via email.
Biman's General Manager (Public Relations) Boshra Islam told The Business Standard that the incident had suddenly occurred.
"Following a complaint lodged by Biman Bangladesh Airlines' London country manager, hotel authorities requested a written statement by email, which has since been submitted and the hotel management confirmed that they are investigating the matter," she said.
For security reasons, Biman's crew members will be relocated from the Heston Hyde Hotel to another property under the same company, she added.
