BGB drives seize smuggled goods, drugs worth Tk1.77cr

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian smuggled goods and drugs worth over Tk1.77 crore in five separate drives across different border areas of the country.
According to BGB press releases issued today (18 August), the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) seized Indian cosmetics, blankets, chocolates, tea leaves, snacks, wood, biscuits, and three wooden boats during operations conducted from 16 to 17 August. The estimated value of the seized goods is Tk17.28 lakh.
Meanwhile, the Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) intercepted a truck carrying 9,000 kilograms of illegally imported Indian cumin in Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar, valuing the cumin and the vehicle at Tk1.20 crore.
In Kushtia, the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) detained one person in separate operations while seizing Indian tapentadol tablets, cannabis, cyproheptadine and dexamethasone tablets, liquor, and cigarettes worth Tk20.69 lakh.
The Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) recovered Indian mehendi, energy drinks, fuchka, basmati rice, fireworks, wood, cattle, a motorcycle, an easy-bike, yaba tablets, and beer worth approximately Tk20.02 lakh in separate drives.
Additionally, the Khulna Battalion (21 BGB) seized 223 bottles of Indian Eskuf syrup from the Putkhali border area.
The paramilitary force stated that its intelligence surveillance and anti-smuggling operations will continue to ensure border security and prevent the illegal trafficking of drugs and goods.
