BGB brings back 9 Bangladeshi fishermen from Myanmar
The fishermen were apprehended in Myanmar’s maritime area on 10 November
Myanmar has sent back nine Bangladeshi fishermen who were detained by Myanmar's Border Guard Police in its maritime area two weeks ago.
They were brought back to Bangladesh on Wednesday after a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar's Border Guard Police at the bordering Maungdaw town of the neighbouring country, said a press statement issued by BGB.
The returnees are: Nurul Alam, Ismail Hossain, Md Iliyus, Md Yunus, Md Alam, Saiful, Salim Ullah, Nur Kamal, and Lalu Mia.

They are aged between 11 to 46 years and residents of Shah Porir Dwip in Cox's Bazar district.
The fishermen were apprehended in Myanmar's maritime area on 10 November, said Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Foysal Hasan Khan, commanding officer at BGB Teknaf battalion 2.
He said the fishermen were fishing in the sea on 10 November, two kilometers away from Saint Martin's Island.
Suddenly, their fishing trawler stopped due to engine failure and then the sea tides took it to Myanmar's maritime area.
After that, Myanmar's Border Guard Police detained them and took them into their custody.
The BGB immediately started initiatives to bring the fishermen back to Bangladesh.
The 10-member Bangladesh team led by Lieutenant Colonel Foysal held the flag meeting with Myanmar's Border Guard Police which was led by Lieutenant Colonel Zaw Lin Aung.
The nine fishermen were sent to mandatory quarantine, the press statement read.
