Begum Rokeya University teacher arrested in July Uprising murder case in Rangpur
The court of Rangpur's Chief Judicial Magistrate RQM Zulkar Nain has rejected his bail application and sent him to jail

Assistant Professor Mahmudul Haque of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department at Begum Rokeya University has been arrested in a murder case filed 10 months after the death of a person named Samech Uddin in Rangpur.
The case cites Samech as a warrior of the July Uprising of last year.
Police from the Metropolitan Hazirhat Police Station arrested Mahmudul from his residence in the Dhap Engineer Para area of the city around 3:45 PM on Thursday (19 June) and presented him in court.
Mahmudul's lawyer Shahidul Islam said the court of Rangpur's Chief Judicial Magistrate RQM Zulkar Nain rejected his bail plea and sent him to jail.
Regarding his arrest from home, Mahmudul's wife Masuba Hasan Moon in a Facebook post said, "My husband was not involved in any such crime. He is completely innocent. This is a deliberately fabricated false case. I seek support from all my husband's beloved students, respected colleagues, journalism profession colleagues, and well-wishers."
According to court sources, on 3 June, Amena Begum, wife of Radha Krishnapur grocery store owner Somesh Uddin, filed the murder case at Hazirhat Police Station as the plaintiff on behalf of her husband.
Some 56 people were accused in the case, with ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader named as the main accused. Mahmudul is the 54th accused in the case.
