‘Beautiful Bangladesh Run’ Season 2 held at Hatirjheel with 1,000 runners
The government is working to attract foreign investment for international-standard tourism infrastructure.
The second season of the "Beautiful Bangladesh Run 2026" was held at Hatirjheel in the capital today (25 April), drawing nearly 1,000 participants from various professions.
Organised by the Aviation and Tourism Journalists Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB), the event kicked off at 6am at the Police Plaza point. The run featured a 7.5-kilometre competitive race and a 2-kilometre fun run.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat attended the event as the chief guest and distributed prizes. He noted that such initiatives promote health awareness and contribute to the growth of the tourism sector.
The state minister also said the government is working to attract foreign investment for international-standard tourism infrastructure.
"We are in talks with world-renowned firms like Emaar Properties to develop tourism facilities through public-private partnership (PPP) arrangements," he added.
Abir Hossain, deputy managing director of Rhythm Group, the event's title sponsor, expressed his optimism about the large turnout. He shared plans to expand the event to an international scale next year.
In the 7.5km competitive run, Md Elahi Sardar secured first place in the men's category, followed by Ashraful Alam and Palash Sheikh.
In the women's category, Hamida Akter Jeba finished first, with Sadia Shawlin Sigma and Teresa Kochi taking second and third places, respectively.
In the 2km fun run, Mohibur Rahman emerged first among the men, while Nur-e-Saba secured the top spot in the women's category.
Winners were awarded podium prizes, air tickets to various destinations, and raffle draw prizes. ATJFB President Tanzim Anwar, General Secretary Baten Biplob, and Race Director Safiullah Sumon also spoke at the event.
