Bangladeshi student donates surgical masks in a Chinese university

A Bangladeshi student has donated surgical masks among students of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics located in China's Jiangxi province.

Amid a buying frenzy caused by the coronavirus outbreak, a Bangladeshi student, Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan Anik donated around 3,000 surgical masks at the University.

Anik, a third-year student of International Trade and Economics Department of the university took the initiative of sending masks from Bangladesh to help his classmates in coronavirus-stuck country China as a worldwide shortage of masks has resulted in local shoppers scrambling to procure the items in recent weeks, even as prices increased.

"China is like my second home. I decided to donate masks at my University when my Chinese friends informed me about the epidemic condition caused by the novel coronavirus there," Anik said.

He thanked his Bangladeshi friends Jodi, Turun, Saiyedul for their cooperation.

Foreign students from different countries in the university appreciated the initiative taken by the Bangladeshi students. The university also gave a thank letter to Anik.

"He showed the whole university that even though he is not in China but still with us," Kate, a second-year student of the university said.

Gerald King, a final year Master student of the university said "I appreciate the initiative especially in this situation when face masks are very difficult to get in the Chinese markets."

"We appreciated the initiative of delivering mask to the students far away from China," Ibn Ali Issah Kulo from Ghana said.
