Bangladeshi stevedore goes missing after falling from cargo vessel at Ctg Port
Navy, Coast Guard and port authorities are searching for the missing worker.
A Bangladeshi stevedore went missing after falling overboard from a cargo vessel at the Alpha Anchorage of Chattogram Port around 11:37am today (16 August).
The missing worker has been identified as Mohammad Yasin, 50, Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim said.
Yasin reportedly fell into the water from MV Crimson Grace, which was anchored at the port's outer anchorage. He was subsequently carried northward by the tidal current.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard was immediately informed and joined the search and rescue operation, Hamim said.
Two Bangladesh Navy vessels and a SWADS boat have also joined the search for Yasin.
The CPA has been continuously broadcasting distress messages over VHF radio to nearby vessels, urging them to assist in the search-and-rescue operation.
The search was continuing, with the Navy, Coast Guard, port authorities and vessels operating in the area coordinating efforts to locate the missing worker.
Further details about the circumstances leading to Yasin's fall were not immediately available.
