Meanwhile, the prime minister's foreign affairs adviser Humaiun Kobir held a separate meeting with Zafer Sirakaya, a member of parliament from Istanbul and vice chairman for foreign affairs of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
During the meeting, the Turkish leader expressed interest in formalising ties between Bangladesh's Bangladesh Nationalist Party and the AK Party, proposing a memorandum of understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation through official channels.
The two sides also discussed potential party-to-party delegation visits aimed at deepening engagement and expanding international cooperation.
Zafer Sirakaya extended his congratulations to Tarique Rahman during the courtesy meeting.
Humaiun Kobir noted that the AK Party is the first foreign political party to propose such a formal cooperation framework with the BNP.
