Under an initiative of the Quantum Foundation, the World Meditation Day is being celebrated for the first time in Bangladesh today, aiming at healthy, successful and happy life through reviving positivity in soul by practicing meditation.

At 9:30am, millions of people from all over the country immersed in meditation from their respective places, to celebrate the day.

The foundation has chalked out a series of virtual programme from 7 am to 11 pm, targeting people from different walks. The events will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel of the Foundation.

Awareness documentaries, special meditations and special discussions are among the programmes. 

Apart from that, the foundation called a competition and asked the participants to send their essays, pictures, photos and videos on meditation by 5 June. A total of 56 winners will get books worth Tk10,000 each.

In the morning, the Quantum Foundation organized a special event on the occasion of the day at Jatiya Press Club premises. Kazi Rawnak Hossain, an executive member of the press club and a Quantum graduate, described his feelings about meditation. The programme was conducted by Mohammad Mahmuduzzaman, the convener of Quantum Media Cell. Later, all took part in a meditation session.

Marking the day, every branch, cell of Quantum Foundation arranged special events.

The Quantum Foundation has been operating in the country for the past three decades, conducting meditation through their own effort.

It boasts a great list of meditators consisting of government officials, Educationalists, actors, artists, doctors and people from all walks of life.

The organisation made arrangements for the celebration of the meditation day as the benefit of meditation has been quite impactful amid Covid-19.

The medical journal Lancet, American Academy of Pediatrics, National Heral of India claims that meditation has helped more than 5 crore people with Covid-19.

"A meditator awakens a benevolent power within them through meditation that allows them to behave for empathetically," said Suraiya Rahman, coordination director of Quantum Foundation.
