Azimpur graveyard goes virtual
All graveyards in Dhaka South can be seen virtually in phases, using the website (gms.dscc.gov.bd)
Azimpur graveyard, under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka South City Corporation, is now accessible for virtual visitation.
Through the website (gms.dscc.gov.bd), which was opened on Monday, the database containing information about the buried individuals is now readily available.
Dhaka South Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Monday inaugurated digital graveyards management software, property database management, and a separate app for south city case management at Nagar Bhaban.

Besides, all the graveyards in Dhaka South can be seen virtually in phases using the digital graveyard management website.
Burial certificates and all information related to the graveyards can be collected from this software.
The Information and Communication Technology Cell of the city corporation will maintain the website.
Digital graveyard management software has been piloted with Azimpur Graveyard. Through this software, the work of creating a database of those buried in the graveyard is going on.
Md Abu Tayyab Rokan, system analyst (ICT Cell) of Dhaka South, told The Business Standard, this website has been tested on Azimpur Graveyard. All four graveyards under Dhaka South will go virtual in phases. Through this, anyone can get all the information related to Azimpur graveyard.
In the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Taposh said, "We have taken another step forward in building a smart and well-governed Dhaka South by digitising three large parts. For any city corporation, burials and cremations are a big activity. Now we can ensure it at a modern level through this software."
The mayor said, "We are also modernising our property management programmes to bring our properties and treasury operations under more disciplined and good governance. Besides, we can also manage the cases filed against us through this app."
Taposh said, "There was a time when we used to lose 100% of the cases. But now the situation is different. At present, we win almost 100% of the cases and the number of cases is decreasing. For this, many people hesitate to sue us these days."
