Attackers of Gazaria police camp fled abroad, will be sent to jail upon return: Home adviser
On 25 August, members of the Noyon-Pias gang launched a violent attack near the Meghna River, firing more than 100 rounds and detonating several crude bombs targeting the camp.

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam has warned that the accused attackers of Gazaria police camp in Munshiganj, including notorious pirate leaders Noyon and Pias, who fled to neighbouring countries, will be sent to Keraniganj jail once they return.
"My home district is Munshiganj. I have long been aware of this river piracy group. They may still be in possession of weapons looted from police stations," he told journalists after visiting the temporary police camp at Jamalpur village in Gazaria's Guagachhia union.
"We have already started working to make the camp permanent," he added. During the visit, local journalists highlighted the plight of potato farmers in Munshiganj.
In response, the adviser said, "I am aware of the issue. To ensure fair prices for farmers, we have set a fixed price for potatoes. However, despite the price being set, cold storage operators are not releasing potatoes."
The temporary police camp at Jamalpur village was established on 22 August to curb the activities of river pirates in remote areas of the union.
Just three days later, on 25 August, members of the Noyon-Pias gang launched a violent attack near the Meghna River, firing more than 100 rounds and detonating several crude bombs targeting the camp.
The incident drew nationwide attention, prompting a massive law enforcement operation. So far, five suspects have been arrested, including Noyon's elder brother Ripon.
