Associates of the fallen "fascist" regime are trying to regroup in India's Tripura, said Hasnat Abdullah, one of the central coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

"Despite fleeing, Sheikh Hasina is conspiring against the country. We have received information that fascists are trying to gather in Tripura, across the border of Cumilla," Hasnat said at an Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rally held before a torch procession in the Kandirpar area of Cumilla yesterday (19 October).

"We want to tell the fascists in clear words that their conspiracy and mischief will never succeed on the soil of Bangladesh. Those who are agents of fascism – Chhatra League, Jubo League, Tokai League – will be suppressed with a strong hand if they try to resettle anywhere in Bangladesh," he added.

The student leader also said, "The conspiracy to rehabilitate Awami League in Bangladesh will never be allowed to succeed. If necessary, resistance will be built from Cumilla."

Meanwhile, at a discussion organised by Bhasha Sahitya Charcha Academy in Noakhali yesterday, Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud claimed that Awami League leaders from Noakhali, Cumilla and Feni regions are gathering for a meeting in Cumilla and they are preparing to hold a rally in Agartala, India.

"There is intelligence information that they want to announce a government-in-exile from that rally and Sheikh Hasina herself might address the rally," he added.
