The Bangladesh Army will always stand by the people who were injured during the 2024 July mass uprising, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman said today (23 March).

Speaking at an iftar and dinner programme in honour of the uprising injured, he said the army is providing financial assistance to the injured for their rehabilitation.

He also said the army has so far provided treatment to about 4,200 people who were injured in the uprising and this assistance programme is still ongoing.

Addressing the uprising injured, the army chief said, "Do not lose morale. You are the nation's pride. You have sacrificed a lot for the country and the people. 

"I assure you that we will always be by your side. The army will always be by the side of the injured."

The Bangladesh Army organised the event at Sena Malancha in Dhaka Cantonment.

Senior army officials, distinguished civilians, and directors of various government hospitals attended the event, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

After the programme, Eid gifts were distributed to injured individuals on behalf of the Bangladesh Army.
