Army chief returns home after official visits to Russia, Croatia

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman has returned home today (12 April) after completing official visits to Russia and Croatia.
During the visits, he held meetings with the Chief of the Russian Army, the Deputy Defense Minister, and other senior military and civilian officials, as well as with the Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces and high-ranking military and civilian dignitaries, said a media release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
On 7 April, the Army chief paid a courtesy call on Russia's Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest related to both armies, training assistance, the development of bilateral relations and mutual trust, export of skilled manpower to Russia, higher education, regional security cooperation, and joint training initiatives.
On 8 April, the Army chief met with the Chief of the Russian Army, General Oleg Leonidovich Salyukov. The discussions focused on defense cooperation agreements, particularly training support including trainee exchanges between military training institutions, joint training programs, and future collaborative plans.
In addition, the Army chief met with the director general of the Russian state nuclear energy agency ROSATOM. They discussed the timely completion of physical security measures at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and arrangements for connecting it to the national power grid.
The Army chief also met with senior officials of Rostec and Rosoboronexport, where they held fruitful discussions on accelerating and streamlining military cooperation between the two countries.
On 10 April, during his visit to Croatia, the Army chief met with the Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid. Their discussions covered defense cooperation and capacity building, potential opportunities in the defense industry, joint military exercises, increased bilateral collaboration, and future strategic planning.
The Army chief departed on an official visit to Russia on 6 April, and subsequently visited Croatia on 10 April.
