Architect Sharif wins Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture

Sharif won the award under multi-family residence category for “The Carnation” project in Dhaka

Architect Sharif Uddin Ahammed has won the Berger Commendation Award 2019 in the 9th Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture, jointly organised by Berger and Institute of Architects Bangladesh. 

The award-giving ceremony was held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Agargaon area of Dhaka on Saturday evening. 

As many as 72 projects were nominated for the award this year, and among them 53 projects were submitted. A total of seven of those projects made it to the shortlist.

The seven categories this year was single family residence, multi-family residence, industrial, commercial or mercantile, green and sustainable, others and young architect. 

Mohammad Sharif Uddin Ahammed won the Commendation Award under multi-family residence category for "The Carnation" project in Dhaka.

Renowned architect Khan Md Mustapha Khalid Palash chaired the jury board, while architect Sheikh Ahsan Ullah Mojumder, Jakiul Islam and artist Wakilur Rahman were the juries this year. 

Meanwhile, Indian architect Shimul Javeri Kadri served as the foreign juror. The event ended with a cultural segment and dinner.
