Appointments of 65 doctors at Shishu hospital cancelled

The governing board of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute has cancelled the ad-hoc appointments of 65 doctors made without a formal recruitment notice.
Hospital Director Professor Dr Mahbubul Alam confirmed the decision today (20 July), citing procedural flaws in the hiring process.
He stated that no further ad-hoc appointments will be made. Instead, permanent recruitment will be conducted through proper advertisement and standard procedures.
Following the 22nd and 23rd board meetings held on 12 and 13 April, the doctors were appointed by 30 June.
However, no written test or viva was conducted, and no advertisement was published in newspapers. A brief notice was only posted on the hospital's notice board, raising concerns about transparency and fairness of the appointment.
After the matter drew attention, the Ministry of Health issued a show-cause notice and formed a probe committee. The committee later recommended cancelling the appointments.
