Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today reiterated the necessity to form a commission to identify the perpetrators behind the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying otherwise they would again hatch a new conspiracy.

"We have to identify the perpetrators behind the killing of Bangabandhu; we have to unmask them to our future generation. It is very much necessary to form a commission to do the job and the demands to do so have been raised from different quarters of the society," he said.

The minister said these at a virtual discussion organised by the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry marking the National Mourning Day and 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an official release said.

Anisul Huq told Law Commission Chairman Justice ABM Khairul Haque, who joined and addressed the virtual meeting, to think about the jurisdiction, way of work of this commission from now on, saying it would ultimately go on the shoulders of the law ministry and law commission.

"We often say that some disgruntled military officers committed the crime. But it is not true. If they were the only one behind the killing, they would have only killed Bangabandhu, not his family members. By killing all the family members of Father of the Nation in Dhaka on that day, they wanted to kill the independence of the country, they wanted to kill Bangladesh," Anisul Huq added.

Conducted by joint secretary Bikash Kumar Saha, the discussion was also addressed by Law Commission Chairman Justice ABM Khairul Haque, Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Md Moinul Kabir, Inspector General of Directorate of Registration Shahidul Alam Jhinuk, National Legal Aid Services Organization Director Md Saiful Islam and Judicial Administration Training Institute Director Golam Kibria, among others.

A special munajat was also offered seeking divine blessings for the martyrs of August 15, 1975.
