'All my children are in Bangladesh, what will I do with a safe exit?’ says home affairs adviser
Jahangir Alam said, “What someone wants do is a personal matter. My children are here; I don’t need a safe exit.”

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has rejected discussions about a "safe exit."
"All my children are in the country. What will I do alone with a safe exit?" he said today (12 October) while speaking to journalists after a meeting at the Secretariat.
Earlier, on 5 October, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam said some advisers had formed links with political parties and were considering their own "safe exit."
When asked about it, Jahangir Alam said, "What someone wants do is a personal matter. My children are here; I don't need a safe exit."
When asked whether army members accused of crimes against humanity during the fascist period would face trial while remaining in military custody, he said, "The law will be followed."
On weapons lost during the uprising, he said he would discuss the matter with the IGP and provide an update at the next meeting. He added that steps are being taken to prevent unrest during the upcoming election.
"Not all weapons have been recovered. That is why law enforcers are needed. The election will be held peacefully, God willing," he said.
