Five new city corporation administrators call on PM
After their appointment, the newly appointed administrators paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office in the parliament.
The Local Government Division has appointed full-time administrators to five city corporations - Barishal, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Cumilla.
The appointments were announced through a gazette notification issued today (14 March).
According to the notification, Bilkis Akhter Jahan Shireen has been appointed administrator of Barishal City Corporation, while Md Mahfuzur Rahman has been given charge of Rajshahi City Corporation.

Md Rukunuzzaman Rokon has been appointed administrator of Mymensingh City Corporation, Mahfuz Un Nabi Chowdhury of Rangpur City Corporation, and Md Yusuf Molla of Cumilla City Corporation.
They will perform the responsibilities until further orders.
The notification further said the appointed administrators will exercise the powers and responsibilities of mayors under the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024. "They will also receive honorarium and allowances as per the rules."

Earlier on 22 February, the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives appointed administrators to six other city corporations – Dhaka South, Dhaka North, Khulna, Sylhet, Narayanganj and Gazipur.
