On 1 September, members of the gang allegedly abducted a couple from Shyamoli Housing in Adabor, assaulted them, and demanded ransom.

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) last night (2 September) arrested nine individuals, including the alleged members of 'Kabji Kata' gang, in connection with an attack on police in the capital's Sunibir Housing area of Adabor on 1 September.
The arrestees are Md Roni (27), his brother Md Jony (24), Md Osman (20), Md Nazir (20), Md Raju (27), Md Shakil (19), Md Abul Kamal Azad (19), Md Rezu Khan Alam (22) and Md Alamin (18).
They were arrested in raids conducted in Keraniganj and Savar, where law enforcers also recovered sharp weapons used in the attack, said Mohammad Rakib Khan, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of DB's Tejgaon Division.
According to him, the detainees are active members of a notorious teenage gang known as the "Kobji Kata" group, which operates in Mohammadpur and Adabor areas.
With the group's ringleader, Anwar, currently behind bars, Roni and Jony had been leading the gang of around 12 members.
"The group has been involved in crimes including abduction of political leaders, extortion, land grabbing, hired muscle work, and violent showdowns to establish dominance," the ADC said.
On 1 September, members of the gang allegedly abducted a couple from Shyamoli Housing in Adabor, assaulted them, and demanded ransom.
When the victim's family called the national emergency helpline 999, a police team rushed to the scene. The gang members then launched a sudden attack with sharp weapons, injuring the police officers as well as members of the victim's family.
The attackers also vandalised a police patrol car before fleeing.
Following the incident, multiple DB teams from Tejgaon Division launched operations to track down the suspects, leading to their arrest.
