The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered six petrol bombs and four crude bombs (cocktails) from the Rayerbazar Intellectuals' Graveyard area in Dhaka.
According to a press release issued by RAB today (12 November), the explosives were found abandoned in the area.
RAB suspects that miscreants had stored the explosives to carry out subversive activities in Mohammadpur, Rayerbazar, and nearby areas, centring the lockdown called by the Awami League and its affiliated organisations for 13 November, it said.
The recovered petrol and crude bombs were later defused by the RAB's Bomb Disposal Unit, the release added.
Meanwhile, police arrested a man named Yasin from Jigatola with four crude bombs.
Shah Mostafa Tariquzzaman, assistant commissioner of police (Dhanmondi zone), confirmed, adding that Yasin hails from Pirojpur.
The crude bombs will be defused by the bomb disposal unit, he added.
