6 burnt in boiler blast in Narayanganj cement factory
They were admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute
Six workers suffered burn injuries after a boiler exploded at the Bashundhara Cement factory in the Madanganj area in Narayanganj yesterday evening (22 November).
The explosion occurred around 7pm, said Bandar Fire Service in-charge Abdullah Hossain.
"We received information about the blast and will investigate the cause of the explosion after visiting the site," he added.
The injured have been identified as Nahid Hasan, 22, Kamrul Hasan, 45, Taijul Islam, 35, Ferdous, 35, Turab Ali, 55, and Atiur Rahman, 42.
They were admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute around 8:15 pm, said Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the hospital's emergency department.
"All six workers sustained burn injuries, and several also suffered airway damage. Their dressings are ongoing," he added.
According to hospital sources, Nahid sustained burns over 40% of his body, Kamrul Hasan 26%, Taijul Islam 12%, Ferdous 10%, Turab Ali 16%, and Atiur Rahman 27%.
