5,000 Yaba pills hidden in cricket bat: 2 arrested at Cox’s Bazar airport

Cox's Bazar Airport authorities today (17 August) detained two men after more than 5,000 yaba tablets were found concealed inside a cricket bat.
One of those arrested is a former employee of the airport.
The arrests took place at around 10:15am during a routine baggage inspection, Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Elias Khan confirmed.
The detainees were identified as Jakir Hossain, 26, from Madaripur, and Tanvir Ahmed, 30, from Barishal. Tanvir was previously dismissed from his post at the airport.

According to airport officials, the pair were scheduled to travel on a US-Bangla Airlines flight from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka, departing at 11:25am.
They arrived at the airport shortly after 10am, where staff were conducting standard baggage screening. During the checks, security personnel discovered 5,100 yaba tablets expertly concealed inside a cricket bat.
OC Khan stated that preparations are under way to file a case against the men under the relevant narcotics control laws at Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station.
