7 arson attacks in Dhaka, Munshiganj, Tangail, Barishal, and Gopalganj

Six vehicles were set on fire in Dhaka, Munshiganj, Tangail, and Gopalganj from last night to the early hours of today (13 November).
No casualties were reported, confirmed Rozina Akter, an officer at the Fire Service control room.
According to the Fire Service, a bus parked in front of Mirpur DOHS No 12 in the capital was set on fire around 12:15am. Two units brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes, but the bus was already burnt.
On the Dhaka–Tangail highway, miscreants set fire to a passenger bus of Bangla Star Paribahan around 12am in the Baikhola area of Basail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gorai Highway Police Station Md Sarwar Hossain said traffic congestion due to an accident in the Baikhola area may have contributed. The bus driver and helper said a noise was heard from the back before the fire started, and they along with passengers evacuated safely. Firefighters later controlled the blaze. Miscreants also set fire to tyres in the Pauli area of the same highway later in morning.
About two hours later, around 2:30am, another bus parked in Tangail's Rawail area was set ablaze. No one was inside the vehicle, and several Fire Service units quickly brought the fire under control.
Shortly after, at around 2:45am, a human hauler laguna parked outside Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka was also set on fire. Multiple Fire Service units were dispatched and managed to douse the flames.
After a while, at around 3am miscreants have set fire to the BNP office in Guthia union under Wazirpur upazila of Barishal district.
Locals said the attackers poured petrol and fled after igniting the blaze.
Officer-in-Charge Abdus Salam of Wazirpur Police Station said a police team was sent to the spot and legal action would be taken upon investigation.
Around half an hour later, after 3:30am, a truck parked in front of Akij paper mill in Gazaria Upazila of Munshiganj, was torched, causing an estimated loss of around Tk2 lakh.
Munshiganj Fire Service station officer Md Firoz Mia said they received the news around 3:40am and started firefighting immediately.
The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes but took about 45 minutes to be fully extinguished.
Another incident took place around 4:30am in Gopalganj. Miscreants reportedly threw several petrol bombs at the Public Works office. One of the petrol bombs ignited a vehicle on Model School Road. Public Works staff quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further damage, though the incident caused panic in the area.
Such incidents of arson have been reported in recent days amid the banned Awami League's online-announced "lockdown" programme for today.
