Five people, including two of the same family, were killed in separate road accidents in Bogura today (28 December). 

In Kahaloo upazila, three people, including a father and daughter, were killed after a truck hit their auto-rickshaw van in the upazila's Dorgahat area, the area's Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman Shahin confirmed the matter.

The deceased were identified as Md Faruk, 40, his daughter Humaira, 7, and auto-rickshaw driver Shahinur Rahman, 45.

The OC said, "The incident occurred at around 10am, when an auto-rickshaw van broke down in the Dorgahat area, a truck hit the passenger van from behind. They died on the spot."

Kahaloo Fire Service rescued the injured and sent the dead bodies to the Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue, he added.

In Gabtali upazila, a woman fell from a motorcycle and was crushed by a sand-laden truck in the upazila's Sukhanpukur area.

The deceased was identified as Reshmi Khatun, wife of Jubair Hossain from the upazila.

Bogura Gabtali Model Police Station OC Ashik Iqbal said, "The husband and wife were traveling on a motorcycle. The wife fell from the motorcycle and was crushed under the wheel of a sand-laden truck coming from behind."

Meanwhile, in Bogura's Naruli, a man named Md Farid, 36, from the Sariakandi upazila, was killed when a train hit him.

Inspector Nazmul Haque, in-charge of Naruli police outpost, said, "The incident occurred at Naruli graveyard area around 10am when the Korotoa Express train hit him. Police visited the scene." 

According to the deceased's relatives, the railway police will take legal action in this regard.
