441 new sailors join Bangladesh Navy to strengthen maritime security
A total of 441 newly recruited sailors of the A-2026 batch formally joined the Bangladesh Navy today (21 May) pledging allegiance to the national flag and commitment to protecting the country and its maritime boundaries.
The graduation parade of the recruits was held at the BNS Sher-e-Bangla parade ground in Patuakhali, marking the completion of their boot camp training.
Chief of Naval Staff M Nazmul Hassan attended the ceremony as the chief guest and inspected the parade and took salute.
Later, he distributed awards among the sailors for outstanding performances in different categories.
Among the recruits, Md Shahriar Tutul achieved the highest distinction in professional and overall performance and received the "Noupradhan" award.
Md Samiul Islam Shakil secured the second position and received the "Comkhul" award, while Md Kader Mia won the "Sher-e-Bangla" award for securing third place.
Besides, Maria Akter received "Pritilata Waddedar" award as best female sailor.
Addressing the programme, Nazmul Hassan paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War, including Bir Sreshtha Ruhul Amin and Shaheed Lt Commander Moazzem Hossain, recalling their sacrifices with gratitude.
He urged the newly enlisted sailors to uphold honesty, discipline, loyalty and moral values and remain prepared to make any sacrifice for the country.
Senior military and civilian officials, dignitaries from Patuakhali, Barishal and Khulna regions and guardians of the recruits were also present at the programme.
