4 killed in gas line explosion at Akij Factory in Habiganj
Four workers were killed today (31 December) in a gas substation line explosion at an Akij Group factory in Habiganj's Bahubal upazila.
The explosion took place around 9am at the Akij Beverage Company in the Dubai Bazar area, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Islam of Bahubal Model Police Station.
"An explosion occurred at Akij Company around 9am, killing two people on the spot. Five critically injured individuals were sent to MAG Osmani Medical College in Sylhet, but two of them died on the way."

The deceased have been identified as Riaz, Mahfuz, Mizan, and Gazi, all factory workers.
Among them, Gazi and Mahfuz were from Chandpur, while the addresses of the other two remain unknown.
OC Zahidul Islam citing the locals said Akij Group is constructing a factory in the Dubai area of Bahubal.
Nabiganj-Bahubal Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Zahirul Islam added that the on-duty workers were testing gas pressure at the factory when the explosion occurred, blowing off the roof of the building.
