4 held with 69 gold bars, $12,000 in Benapole

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested four people along with 69 gold bars, weighing 6.2 kg and $12,000 from Amrakhali, Sadipur and Putkhali bordering areas on Thursday.
The arrestees were identified as Momin Chowdhury, 55, son of Hasu Chowdhury of Sadipur, Nurul Islam, son of Akbar Ali of Porabari village, Rafiqul Islam, 35, son of Mohiuddin, and Razzaque, 40, son of Shahiduzzaman of Putkhali village.
Tipped-off, two teams of BGB-49 conducted simultaneous drives in the areas and arrested the four people along with the gold bars and US dollars, said Commanding Officer of BGB-49 Lieutenant Colonel Selim Reza.
BGB arrested Momin with 49 gold bars and Nurul with 20 gold bars from Sadipur and Amrakhali bordering area.
They also arrested Rafiqul and Razzaque with 12,000 US dollars from Putkhali bordering area in the morning.
The arrestees were later handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
