37 companies receive approval to export hilsa to India ahead of Durga Puja
Exporters are required to submit proof of previously exported quantities when applying for future permissions and are not allowed to exceed the authorised amounts

The government has approved 37 Bangladeshi firms to export a total of 1,200 tonnes of hilsa to India on the occasion of Durga Puja.
According to an order signed today (16 September) by SHM Magfurul Hasan Abbasi, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, the export period will remain effective from 16 September to 5 October.
The government has set the minimum export price at $12.5 per kilogram of hilsha fish.
The government set several conditions for the export, requiring firms to comply with the Export Policy 2024–27 regulations, while customs authorities will inspect all shipments to ensure quality and adherence to approved quotas.
"Exporters are required to submit proof of previously exported quantities when applying for future permissions and are not allowed to exceed the authorised amounts," the order stated.
The government further directed that during shipment, customs will verify each consignment through the ASYCUDA World System to ensure no export beyond the approved quota. "The permission is non-transferable, meaning exporters cannot subcontract the consignment to others."
The government also reserves the right to cancel the export approval at any time if deemed necessary, the order added.
