31 baby cobras rescued from a house in Hathazari
28 of the snakes were later released by the Forest Department yesterday, while 3 died.
The Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team in Bangladesh (WSRTBD) has rescued 31 venomous baby monocled cobras from a residential house in Hathazari, Chattogram.
According to the team, 28 of the snakes were later released by the Forest Department yesterday (24 October), while three died.
Rezaul Karim Rakib, Hathazari representative of the Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team in Bangladesh, said the snakes were rescued on Wednesday afternoon (22 October) from a house in Mithachhara area in Ward-3 of the municipality.
He explained that the family living in the house had first spotted a single snake inside their home, which was rescued that night.
"The following day, after another snake was seen in the same house, we broke open the floors of two rooms and discovered 31 venomous baby cobras and 40 empty eggshells," Rakib added.
The discovery has sparked concern among local residents, who have been advised to remain cautious and immediately notify authorities if they spot any snakes in the area.
