Three Rohingya robbers, including Zakir, leader of the notorious Rohingya robber gang "Zakir Bahini" from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar, were killed in a shootout with the Rapid Action Battalion.

The shootings took place on Tuesday evening at Jadimura Shalban hills, next to Rohingya Camp No. 26 in Teknaf.

The two other dead are Hamid and Zahir, members of the Rohingya gang, operating in Shalban area of Teknaf.

RAB sources said nine firearms including foreign pistols were recovered from the spot.

RAB-15 Wing Commander Azim Ahmed said a team of RAB raided Shalban hills Tuesday afternoon after receiving information that the group of robbers was in Shalban hills with fire arms.

At one point of the operation, the gang located the patrol team and started firing randomly at them.

RAB also fired in self-defence while the terrorists retreated.

After searching the scene, the bullet-riddled bodies of the three robbers were found.

A RAB member was also injured during the shooting, Azim Ahmed said.

Zakir Ahmed, alias Zakir, is the son of Abdul Amin of Rohingya camp in Hnila Nayapara in Cox's Bazar. There are more than 20 cases against him, including murder, rape, kidnapping and drugs.
