In an unprecedented feat of endurance and determination, Ikramul Hasan Shakil has successfully hoisted the Bangladeshi flag atop Mount Everest, culminating an extraordinary journey that began on the shores of Inani Beach, Cox's Bazar.

Shakil's expedition coordinators confirmed his Everest summit today (19 May) via a Facebook post shared at 2:10pm on the mountaineer's official page.

The brief message stated, "Just received information that Shakil has reached the summit and is in good health. He has now descended to Camp-4. Due to limited network access, detailed updates are currently unavailable."

Later another post at 4:15pm said, "He reached the summit of Mount Everest at 6:30am (Nepal local time) on 19 May , completing an 84-day expedition that began with a 1,372-kilometre journey on foot from Inani Beach in Cox's Bazar."

Named "Sea to Summit", Shakil's epic journey by foot symbolically traced a path from the Bay of Bengal to the world's highest peak.

His trek commenced at noon on 25 February from Inani Beach. Over the next 12 days, he walked through Chattogram, Feni, Cumilla, and Munshiganj before reaching Dhaka. After a short respite, he continued his overland journey, arriving in Panchagarh on 28 March via Gazipur, Tangail, and Sirajganj.

The following day, Shakil crossed into India, continuing on foot through Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling, and entered Nepal on 31 March. After covering 1372 kilometres on foot, he finally reached Everest Base Camp on 29 April.

After a crucial period of acclimatisation at Base Camp, Shakil began his climbing rotations on 6 May, ascending to Camp-3 and then returning to Base Camp on 10 May as part of his summit preparations.

His final push began on 16 May, reaching Camp-2 that day, Camp-3 on 17 May, and Camp-4 on 18 May. From this high camp, he launched his successful summit attempt in the early hours of today, etching his name into history.
