3 killed as pickup collides with autorickshaw in Moulvibazar
Police and locals said the Sreemangal-bound autorickshaw collided head-on with an oncoming pickup, leaving the driver and one passenger dead on the spot.
Three people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila early today (21 February).
The accident occurred around 1:45am in the Giasnagar Shahpur area on the Dhaka-Moulvibazar road.
The deceased were identified as autorickshaw driver Alinur and passengers Rubel Mia and Rehan Mia.
Police and locals said the Sreemangal-bound autorickshaw collided head-on with an oncoming pickup, leaving the driver and one passenger dead on the spot.
The pickup driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.
After receiving the news, a fire service unit rescued two critically injured passengers and took them to Moulvibazar 250-Bed General Hospital, where doctors declared Rehan Mia dead.
Moulvibazar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Saiful Islam said the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The two vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, he added.
