Three passengers including a child were killed and 15 others are still missing after a boat sank in the Jamuna River near Enayetpur in Sirajganj on Tuesday.

The dead included a child, a welding mechanic and an old day labourer, said Masud Purvez, officer-in-charge (OC) of Enayetpur Police Station confirming the accident to The Business Standard.

The boat carrying around 70 passengers was moving toward Chauhali from Enayetpur. When the boat reached some sand-banks around 1.30 pm, it got caught in gusts of wind and sank. Upon receiving the news, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of three people including a child.
