3, including child, killed when bus hit CNG in Gazipur

Three people, including a child, were killed and three others injured when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur today (17 June).

"The accident occurred around 3:00pm on the Dhaka-Kapasia-Kishoreganj regional highway near Jamirarchar Palli Bidyut sub-station area when the Kishoreganj-bound bus of 'Annanya Classic Paribahan' from Dhaka hit the CNG," Kapasia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Joynal Abedin Mandal told The Business Standard.
All the victims were passengers of the auto-rickshaw, he said.
The OC further said following the crash, the driver of the bus fled the scene with the vehicle. "We later recovered the wrecked auto-rickshaw, but its driver, Alomgir Hossain, is also on the run."
"The bodies have been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal proceedings and case filing are currently underway," he added.
According to locals, Touhidul and Shayan were killed on the spot. Locals rushed the victims to Kapasia Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced the two dead and referred critically injured Ratna to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, she died en route.
