277 tonnes hilsa exported to India at Tk1,200 per kg through Benapole
The fish were exported by 91 trucks in 5 days
After the government's approval last week, about 277 tonnes of hilsa were exported to India in the last five days through the Benapole port in Jashore.
The fish were exported by 91 trucks from 26 September to 1 October, said Rashedul Sajib Nazir, deputy director of Benapole land port.
According to Benapole port sources, hilsa is being exported for $10 per kg, which is approximately Tk1,200.

Meanwhile, in the wholesale fish markets of Jashore today (2 October), hilsa was being sold for Tk1,700 to Tk1,800 per kg, our correspondent reports.
Ismail Hossain, general secretary of the Fish Traders Association in Navaran market, said hilsa weighing 800 grams were being sold at Tk1,500 per kg yesterday.
Aswadul Islam, inspector at the Fisheries Inspection and Quality Control Office of Benapole port, said, "The hilsa export circular is a few years old. The export price was fixed at $10 per kg in the circular in accordance with market price at that time. Exports are still being carried out according to that circular."
The price could be adjusted in line with the domestic market price of hilsa, he added.
On 24 September, in response to a "special request" from India, the Ministry of Commerce approved the export of 2,420 tonnes of hilsa to India through 49 export agencies, ahead of Durga Puja festival which begins on 8 October.
