12‑foot python rescued in Cumilla
The snake was spotted on a tree in the jungle beside a house this morning
A 12‑foot‑long python was rescued this noon (1 November) from the Ansar Camp area of Kotbari, Cumilla by the Forest Department.
Rajeshpur Eco Park Range Officer Humayun Kabir and Kotbari Range Officer AKM Lutfullah confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
According to them, the snake was spotted on a tree in the jungle beside a house this morning. Locals gathered at the scene after the sighting.
Describing how the snake was rescued, Kotbari Range Officer AKM Lutfullah said, "When we arrived, we saw a crowd of people. Despite several attempts, we could not rescue the snake at first."
"After using several techniques, we managed to rescue it and release it in Rajeshpur Eco Park," he added.
Rajeshpur Range Officer Humayun Kabir said the snake had come out in search of food.
"In the place where we released it, there is sufficient food," he said, adding that this type of snake is not venomous and helps maintain the balance of the environment.
"If such snakes are found, they should not be killed. Instead, the Forest Department should be informed so that the snake can be rescued and released in a designated area," he added.
