1 killed over school managing committee meeting in Sherpur
Five people had been detained for questioning in connection with the incident
A man was killed over a meeting of the managing committee of Harindhara High School in Char Mocharia union of Sherpur sadar upazila today (22 February)
The deceased, Harej Ali 40, was the son of the late Sharafat Mondal from the same village.
According to the police and the victim's family, a longstanding dispute and legal battle had been ongoing between two groups in the village regarding the managing committee of Harindhara High School.

During the meeting, a clash broke out, leaving Harej Ali critically injured. He was rescued and taken to Sherpur District Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Md. Abdul Karim, additional superintendent of police (sadar circle), said that five people had been detained for questioning in connection with the incident during an immediate operation.
Md Jobaidul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sherpur Sadar Police Station, said that preparations were underway to file a murder case. The body was sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy after preparing an inquest report.
