A man was killed when a gas cylinder in his microbus exploded while refueling at a CNG and refuelling station in Dhamrai, Dhaka on Friday (18 October).

The deceased, identified as Faruk Hossain, 50, was a resident of Dhaira village in Nannar, Dhamrai, and worked as a driver for a rental service.

The incident occurred around 11:30am at NN CNG and Refuelling Station on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Dhamrai.

Witnesses said that Faruk Hossain drove his microbus to the station for refueling. While the station staff was connecting the gas line to the cylinder, Faruk stood behind the vehicle. Suddenly, the gas cylinder exploded, killing him on the spot.

Nasir Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhamrai police station, said, "The explosion occurred while refueling the vehicle in the morning, resulting in the driver's death. Preliminary investigations suggest that Faruk had recently converted his vehicle's LPG cylinder into a CNG one, which exploded due to excessive pressure during refueling."

Dhamrai police station inspector (Investigation) Md Mokhlesur Rahman said, "We have recovered the body and informed the family. Further legal action will be taken based on their complaint."

Another car parked behind the microbus was also damaged by the explosion.
