1 held after banned BCL brings out flash procession in Ctg at midnight
A 33-second video of the procession went viral on social media soon after

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the banned student wing of Awami League, brought out a flash procession in the Prabartak Intersection area of Chattogram city in the wee hours of today (18 November).
A group of 15-20 people took to the streets briefly chanting slogans like "Amra Kara, Sheikh Hasina, tomra kara, Sheikh Hasina", (Who are we, Sheikh Hasina, who are you, Sheikh Hasina).
A 33-second video of the procession went viral on social media soon after.
Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Solaiman said the group of people took out the procession from Prabartak Intersection at around 12:40am and ended it after going towards Badna Shah Mazar within just two minutes.
He said a raid was conducted over the incident and one person who participated in the procession was detained at around 4am. The operation to detain the rest is ongoing.
This was the model of protests that opposition parties, including BNP, had adopted in the face of strict obstructions during the AL regime. Gather in a location, bring out a procession, quickly take photos and videos, and then disappear in adjacent alleys after immediately dispersing.
Earlier, on 18 October, around midnight, Chhatra League activists took out a procession in the Jamal Khan area of the port city. Police later arrested five people over that incident.
Amid demands from the students after a mass uprising ousted the AL government on 5 August, the interim government on 23 October banned the Chhatra League in line with the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009.
