Shafiqur pledges a Bangladesh built on justice, fairness and development
He said the upcoming 12 February election is a chance to awaken a “New Bangladesh,” honor the July 2024 uprising heroes, and ensure development based on justice.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today (6 February) said the party aims to build a Bangladesh grounded in justice and fairness.
"Over the past 15 and a half years, around Taka 28 lakh crore had been stolen from the country and siphoned abroad. We want to bring back that money and begin development in the neglected areas first," he told an election rally at Pirojpur Government High School ground.
Dr Shafiqur said the upcoming 12 February election is a chance to awaken a "New Bangladesh," honor the July 2024 uprising heroes, and ensure development based on justice.
"The children who sacrificed their lives during mass uprising gave us this Bangladesh. In this Bangladesh, no July hero will tolerate discrimination or oppression anymore," he added.
Addressing the public on the upcoming vote, he asked, "Freedom or slavery?" The crowd responded with chants "Freedom! Freedom!" He urged voters to start their first vote on 12 February by saying "Yes."
Speaking to the youth, Dr. Shafiqur said, "Prepare your hands, we want to give you work. If we can build Bangladesh on the foundation of justice, the whole country will become a living airplane, and the youth will be its pilots."
On the killing of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, he said, "Pirojpur is the sacred land of Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi. The innocent Sayeedi was murdered. We will ensure justice for this killing, as well as for all other killings, including Osman Hadi, Abrar Fahad, Abu Saeed and Mir Mugdha."
At the end of his speech, Dr. Shafiqur handed over the election symbols 'Daripalla' to 11 party alliance Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's two sons – Shamim Sayedee (Pirojpur-2) and Masood Sayedee (Pirojpur-1), Shapla-koli symbol to the Jamaat-backed NCP candidate Dr. Shamim Hamidi (Pirojpur-3), urging the public to vote for them.
Dr. Shafiqur was accompanied by Central Assistant Secretary General Moazzem Hossain Helal, Labour Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran, and leaders of the 11-party alliance.
Chaired by Pirojpur district Jamaat Ameer Principal Tafazzal Hossain Farid, the rally was also attended by district Jamaat Secretary Principal Zahirul Haque, President of the district professional wing Abdullahil Mahmud, Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Abdur Rab, Assistant Secretaries Maulana Siddiqul Islam and Maulana Sheikh Abdur Razzak, and other local Jamaat leaders.
