Results of 5 Dhaka constituencies to be announced shortly: DC Rezaul
According to the Dhaka district returning officer, Six candidates contested in Dhaka-1, three in Dhaka-2, nine in Dhaka-3, eight in Dhaka-19, and six in Dhaka-20
The results of five Dhaka constituencies in the 13th national election and referendum will be announced shortly, said Dhaka Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Rezaul Karim.
Confirming the matter to journalists this evening (12 February), the deputy commissioner said they would be able to announce the results once they receive them from the polling centres.
"So far, results have not started coming in. We expect them to begin arriving within the next few hours. We are fully prepared to announce the results," he added.
According to the Dhaka district returning officer, Six candidates contested in Dhaka-1, three in Dhaka-2, nine in Dhaka-3, eight in Dhaka-19, and six in Dhaka-20.
In Dhaka-1, the candidates are Khondoker Abu Ashfaq of BNP, Md Nazrul Islam of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Md Nasir Uddin Molla of Jatiya Party, Sheikh Mohammad Ali of Bangladesh Labour Party, Nurul Islam of Islami Andolan, and independent candidate Antara Selima Huda.
In Dhaka-2, the candidates are Amanullah Aman of BNP, Jahirul Islam of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and colonel (retd) Abdul Huq of Jamaat-e-Islami.
In Dhaka-3, the candidates include Goyeswar Chandra Roy (BNP), Md Shahinur Islam (Jamaat-e-Islami), Md Sajjad (Gono Odhikar Parishad), Mohammad Zafar (Bangladesh Congress), Md Bachchu Bhuiyan (Gono Sanghati Andolon), Md Sultan Ahmed Khan (Islami Andolan Bangladesh), Mojibur Howladar (Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal), Muhammad Rowshan Yazdani (Gonoforum), Md Faruk (Jatiya Party), and Md Monir Hossain (Independent).
In Dhaka-19, the candidates are Dewan Mohammad Salauddin (BNP), Md Bahadur Islam (Jatiya Party), Dilshana Parul (NCP), Sheikh Shawkat Hossain (Gono Odhikar), Israfil Hossain Savari (National People's Party), Md Faruk Khan (Islami Andolan Bangladesh), Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy (NDP), and Md Kamrul (Bangladesh Muslim League).
In Dhaka-20, the candidates are Md Tamiz Uddin (BNP), Ahsan Khan (Jatiya Party), Nabila Tasnid (NCP), Ashraf Ali (Khelafat Majlish), Md Arzu Mia (Bangladesh Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal), and Helal Uddin Ahmed (AB Party).
